When memory test is needed, how to start it?

 

Solution

 

1. Please reboot the PC and turn off all the applications (as many as possible) before doing memory test. If the application is NOT turned off, the memory will be occupied by that application, and memory test will skip that part of memory.
2. Download Memtest tool at http://www.memtest.org/ or here.
3. Since this tool can only test 1024 MB one time, please execute it several times by following steps.
4. Check the memory of your RAM
5. Divide whole memory by 1024
6. For example, your RAM is 4096 MB, you will need to execute memtest.exe four times
7. Type 1024 MB in the first three dialog and type all unused memory in the last dialog
8. Click start testing on each dialog
9. Wait for the processing
10. If you see test coverage reaches 100% with 0 error, it means the one-fourth of your RAM works well; If you see any error message before reaching 100%, the RMA is a defect one and please install a new RAM.
